Who started it? Les Animaux makes its debut for spring-summer 2016 under the creative directorship of founder and designer Lisa Jackson, a 20-year veteran of the fashion industry who has worked with luxury brands including Viktor & Rolf.
Why we love it: Les Animaux is not your typical girly label. Instead its aesthetic borders on avant garde, with distorted shapes and oversized, masculine silhouettes softened with feminine details such as ruffles or couture fabrics. Designed to be “seasonless” each style is versatile and wellcrafted (garments are made in Italy and Britain in small and exclusive ateliers). The springsummer collection features androgynous, mannish jackets, shirts and trousers made from a mixture of classic and innovative fabrics including lace and Japanese jersey. Many of the cotton shirts are dissected and reassembled to produce new shapes, while dresses and tops have a symmetrical silhouettes making them edgy yet feminine.
