Lisa Jackson launched Les Animaux in Paris in October 2015. Before establishing her own brand she had been head of design for Alice by Temperley and for Viktor and Rolf. Prior to that she had been employed by various contemporary brands alongside premium retailers.
“Having worked on collections that had very strong literal concepts, although inspiring, I often found it limiting and difficult to remain consistent when we were switching between ‘school uniforms’ one season and ‘1940’s Hollywood’ the next. I also thought that it felt alien and less relevant to the way modern women dress, where clothes have to look good and be functional,” explains Lisa. “As I planned Les Animaux, my idea was that there would be no seasonal concepts, and this would allow me to focus on building a strong brand identity, which I can now describe as ‘distorted femininity with a new wave attitude’.”
